Habiter - Olivier Desjardins
Katia-Marie Germain has been working since 2010 as a choreographer-performer. Her works — including Y demeurer (2010), Aube (2012), FOLDS (2014) and Habiter (2017) — have been created and presented in various venues and festivals in Quebec and abroad. A graduate of the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal and holder of a bachelor’s degree in environmental design from UQAM, she is interested in the meeting of choreography and visual arts. Through movement, objects, materials, light and sound, she explores perceptions of space and time by creating environments that alter, renew or divert the perceptions of dancers and spectators. The result is works that capture the gaze and invite contemplation and transcendence.
JURY NOTES
The jury wished to recognise Katia-Marie Germain’s distinctive interdisciplinary approach, combining minimalism and extreme precision in a concise, contained and fully inhabited body of work where she deepens different languages. This artist has been part of the dance scene for several years but is only now being discovered
