
Sylvie-Ann Paré
Daina Ashbee is an artist, performer, and choreographer. Of Dutch and Indigenous heritage, descended from the Cree and Métis peoples, her work is strongly influenced by her culture and her experiences as a young woman. She combines both contemporary and traditional elements in her dance.
Daina is eager to present her new work, Pour, in its world premiere at La Chapelle Scènes Contemporaines.
She was a finalist for her work Unrelated for the Prix du Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec – Œuvre de la relève à Montréal 2015, and she is pleased to be presenting this piece in Mexico and in Europe (Norway and London) in 2016.

The jury was impressed by the depth of thought and strength of vision of Daina Ashbee, the sharpness of her perspective on the world, her early maturity, her discerning choice of collaborators, as well as her boldness and uniqueness.
