ABOUT US

LES PRIX DE LA DANSE DE MONTRÉAL works to promote Montréal as an international dance hub for creation and touring, to promote the dynamism of personalities, organizations and institutions working in the dance industry, in particular by awarding honorary distinctions such as the GRAND PRIX de la danse de Montréal.
OUR HISTORY
LES PRIX DE LA DANSE DE MONTRÉAL presented their first GRAND PRIX de la danse de Montréal in November 2011. In 2012, a fruitful collaboration began with the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ), which joined the awards ceremony to present, for the first time, the Prix de la meilleure œuvre chorégraphique au Québec.
In 2014, the Regroupement québécois de la danse (RQD) and Caisse Desjardins de la Culture partnered with LES PRIX DE LA DANSE to introduce the first INTERPRÈTE Prize. The 2015 edition welcomed new partners: the Ville de Montréal for the GRAND PRIX, Agora de la danse and Tangente for the RÉVÉLATION Prize, and the Conseil des arts de Montréal for the ENVOL Prize, dedicated to cultural diversity in dance.
In 2016, the GESTIONNAIRE CULTUREL·LE Prize, presented by Diagramme – gestion culturelle, was created.
The 2017 edition added a seventh award, the CONTRIBUTION EXCEPTIONNELLE Prize, presented by the board of LES PRIX DE LA DANSE DE MONTRÉAL.
In 2018, the DIFFUSION INTERNATIONALE Prize, presented by CINARS, was introduced, celebrating a Canadian dance company that shined internationally by the quality of its recent tours.
In 2019, the ETHEL BRUNEAU Prize was created to highlight artists and practitioners in dance whose contributions often go unrecognized.
In 2022, Bernard Lagacé helped create the ÉTINCELLE | Pierre-Paul Savoie Prize to honor Québec artists and cultural workers who spark exceptional human experiences through a dance project. The following year, in 2023, Groupe Danse Partout and Grand Théâtre de Québec announced the creation of the FAIT À QUÉBEC Prize, honoring the contribution of an individual, collective, or organization from the dance communities of Québec City and Wendake that made its mark through its reach, commitment, and exceptional contribution to the discipline.
Les Prix de la danse de Montréal is a registered charity since 2014.
Charity number : 801587437 RR 0001.
