"Taminator" recently presented the solo Thin, blending krump and cello, at the MAI (Montréal, arts interculturels) and at Tangente. She also took part in season 3 of Révolution and has become the krump ambassador with the Regroupement québecois de la danse

JURY NOTES

The CALQ jury highlighted the relevance of the theme of anorexia nervosa, approached with rare depth in the solo, Thin. With Krump as a choreographic language, Valérie “Taminator” Chartier evokes the physical and mental battle she waged for years. The fusion of hip-hop and contemporary dance in this piece brings a new dimension to Quebec dance.
The precision of the movements adds strength to the story being told without compromising on technique. The artist succeeds in raising public awareness of a little-known, yet very present reality, particularly among dancers with classical ballet backgrounds. Thin makes a lasting impression, resonating with spectators for a long time to come.
Valérie “Taminator” Chartier has established herself as a leader in the Krump movement, while actively campaigning for recognition of the arts related to hip-hop culture in Quebec.
