Montreal, August 25, 2026 Prix de la danse de Montréal welcome a new distinction: the CULTURAL IMPACT AWARD, presented by La danse sur les routes du Québec (La DSR). This $5,000 prize will be awarded for the first time at the 2026 Prix de la danse de Montréal ceremony.

Recognizing the work of touring and presentation

The Cultural Impact Award celebrates an often invisible part of a choreographic work's journey: the collaborative work between artists and presenters that allows a project to find its audience and leave its mark. In this spirit, La DSR recognizes quality touring and presentation, inspiring mediation, strategic promotion, partner mobilization, or any other exceptional approach that has helped bring a work and its audiences together.

This new award is rooted in La DSR's very mission: for decades, the organization has supported the touring of professional Quebec dance across the province, as well as across Canada and internationally. It enriches the roster of distinctions presented at the Prix de la danse de Montréal, alongside the other awards honouring creation, performance, and contribution to the field.

How to apply The call for submissions opens today, August 25, 2026, and closes September 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Applications are submitted online, in French or English, and may include a video presentation of up to five minutes. Support is available upon request for artists wishing to submit an application.

Applications are assessed against three criteria: the qualitative impact of the project (50%), the quality of the collaboration between artist and presenter (30%), and the visibility offered to dance (20%).

Full details and the application form are available on the La danse sur les routes du Québec website.

Les Prix de la danse de Montréal thank La danse sur les routes du Québec for this new contribution to the vitality of Quebec dance, and look forward to discovering the project that will be honoured at the first presentation of this award.
